It's Pumpkin time... almost.

I went to Dairy Queen last night to pick up an ice cream cake for a friend and saw they have the pumpkin blizzards. You know what this means, right? It's pumpkin time again ... almost (I usually wait til late Sept. to get excited for all things pumpkin).

Pumpkin candles, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cakes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin decor, pumpkins with Flying WVs on them (I saw these at the mall and must have some even though they will probably be stolen from our porch) will ALL be in abundance very soon. I can't wait to light my pumpkin candles, bake some pumpkin cookies, and put pumpkins all over the house. And maybe some mums.

Stay tuned for pictures. Pottery Barn has given me some ideas ...

I can't find a picture of what I want to replicate from pottery barn other than links to buy stuff, but I stole this lovely vignette from a google search (from http://farm3.static.flickr.com/)

  1. I have to say you are my pumpkin twin! I too love all things pumpkin and I need your pumpkin cookie recipe! Never heard of them. However, I LOVE pumpkin muffins from Panera Bakery. (Ever been?) They are soooo good. But it is too damn hot here still to enjoy pumpkin anything. So I think I'll be waiting a while longer to get into the pumpkin spirit. It NEVER got cool enough in Hawaii to enjoy anything pumpkin. Even on Christmas morning! *sigh* But we were swimming in the ocean Christmas morning...and needed sunscreen even! So I wasn't really complaining, haha.

  2. Oh yeah, I've had the Panera Pumpkin muffin. Mmmmm. The air here is getting very crisp at night ... just in time for Pumpkin lattes at Starbucks!

I will share my pumpkin cookie recipe. It is from Eating Well and is therefore slightly healthy. This one says to make with raisins. I've done this and they are good. I've also used semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of the raisins and they are good. YUM! The batter will seem a bit more like cake batter (kinda runny) than cookie dough, but it works. The cookies are moist and soft, too.
    Enjoy!
